To register with Monarchs for Kids, please do 4 things:
1. Consult with your colleagues to see who else at your school wants monarchs. We will assume the teacher emailing or registering is the coordinator for that school.
2. Decide the pickup slot that best matches the date you first want monarchs in the classroom...
- Last week of August (Aug 24-31
- First week of September (Sep 2-6)
- Second week of September (Sep 7-16)
3. Then register by filling in the form at this link. Once you register, you will be assigned a pickup date and receive a notification by email. Your pickup time is a commitment--not easily changed. Don't miss it! Plus, many caterpillars and teachers are depending on you. If your assigned pick up time is impossible, contact monarchs@aldoleopoldnaturecenter.org
An alternate registration/pickup option is: David Thompson, 306 Falles Ct., Madison. Davidthompson20@aol.com. Text: 608-692-5467. Do not double-register at both places!
4. Once you know the pickup time, plan with the other teachers how you will divide the eggs and transfer freshly hatched caterpillars to fresh food. You don't want to leave the pickup person alone with a load of work on a Friday afternoon. And, the caterpillars may need checking over the weekend.
It would be helpful if--when you pick up--you leave us a few glass jars with metal lids. They should be of a size that fits in an automobile's cupholders.
